CRT v`s LCD?

Tech question ere is a 19"CRT @ 16 x12 on high going to look much better than a new 19" lcd @ 12x10 on high?
also any guys running 16x12 on a lcd?

Post pics if u have please of each one ,if u are using a crt?

If you want to run 16x12 on an LCD you'll need a 20" or higher model. Personally, I much prefer LCDs to CRTs, they are a lot easier on the eyes.

By "look better" it depends what you mean. LCD's can match the image quality of CRTs nowadays, and they'll always be much sharper; but of course 16c12 vs 1280x1024, the higher resolution will be more detailed.

Well, i have used / use both a LCD and a CRT. So I tried playing BF2 on both screens. LCD wins! the CRT image is somewhat hard to look at. hurts my eyes. unsharp too

The colours on CRT are much much better than a mid-range mid-price 19" lcd.

Maybe a top of the range 300 quid job would beat it but not everyones super rich

ghosting on LCD suck, CRTs have best quality still. If you have to save room, maybe get an LCD, but you better look for a very good one cuz ghosting/blurring sucks.

Higher resolutions will always be more crisp, thats why I stick to CRT's so i can play most of my new games in 1600 1200 and all my older ones in 2048 1536.

LCD's are just to low res for me, i expect my monitor to be able to do 2048 1536 for my desktop use when mapping/modeling and expect it for older games as well.

You are going to have to pay a lot more for a good quality LCD/TFT monitor.

As for gosting on LCD's well if you dont want to have any gosting make sure to get an LCD that has a refreash rate of 8ms or less.

The only downside that LCD's have is the tend to produce distorted colours, colours blend a lot more where as CRT's produce the real colours.
